Dokumentationszentrum Flucht, Vertreibung, Versöhnung

Interactive Exhibition Exhibits

For the Dokumentationszentrum Flucht, Vertreibung, Versöhnung, we built two interactive applications and a Twitter wall for the exhibition space. Demanding subject matter becomes tangible in the museum context, with clear, accessible operation.

Task

Heavy Topics, Clear Operation

Flight routes and displacement are demanding, sensitive topics. The exhibition space needed applications that make this complexity accessible without trivialising it.

We designed and built two interactive applications for visualising and capturing flight routes, along with a Twitter wall, reliably operable during ongoing museum hours.

Challenge & Solution

Geographic data had to be presented clearly on maps while also being captured by visitors themselves, with operation that works without instructions.

Using Vue.js, Mapbox and Leaflet, we created map applications with clear interaction. The content is maintained via Contentful as a headless CMS, and a Node.js/Express layer connects the components.
